Architectural turning refers to structural and decorative elements for buildings. Examples include columns, finials, rosettes, and newels and balusters for a balustrade. I enjoy working with the customer to develop the design for new construction or to settle on a strategy to duplicate a detail on an existing building. The following images show some of the architectural projects I have completed.
Pricing for this kind of work is very dependant on the size of the pieces, the quantity, and, of course, the wood species. Often the larger columns require building up the turning blanks by planing and gluing the timbers. This can be more time-consuming than the actual turning.
Please contact me to discuss your project. If it is replication or restoration that you have in mind, an emailed digital image can help enormously to understand the project.
